Virgle Horace Goodnight Sr

Virgle Horace Goodnight Sr, 52, of Star City, Arkansas passed away on November 30, 2023. His unexpected passing has left all that knew and loved him shocked and deeply saddened. In 1971, on November 3, Virgle was born and raised in Gillett, Arkansas with his parents Tommy and Brenda Goodnight along with his brother Ray Goodnight. Being raised in a small town with a graduating class of only 21, Virgle was blessed to find the love of his life, his wife of 34 years Stacie Kelnhofer Goodnight along with a set of friends that have been by his side for over 40 years.
At 19, Virgle relocated to Star City, Arkansas to start a new journey for his family in the poultry industry. That first blind step of accepting a maintenance position at Tyson lead him down the path of becoming a chicken farmer. Virgle built a self-made legacy for his children with the help and support, not only from his family, but also from the friendships he made along the way. Virgle was a selfless man whose love for his family drove him in all aspects of life to help his children and loved ones achieve their dreams.
Since his only son could walk, everything that Virgle built and accomplished was with Bubba by his side learning and watching becoming a father and son business partners. Together Virgle and Bubba with the help of the rest of the Goodnight Family, ran businesses that ranged from trucking, to cattle, to poultry farming, and everything in-between. Anything to do with chickens, Virgle was your man, the chicken guru. The one, anyone, could call no matter the circumstances, he’d be there to help. With the desire to help more, Virgle opened Goodnight Poultry & Supply. A business created to help his friends and neighbors make poultry farming a little more convenient for all.
Virgle wore many titles: husband, dad, brother, son, friend, Virgle T, the chicken whisper, Captain V, the goat, Uncle Willy, and his favorite of all even though short lived, Peepaw. Virgle provided comfort to all with just his presence. He was a jokester without a filter that could always put a smile on your face (even a laugh on his more witty days), a man who gave more than he had.
Those that touch our lives stay in our hearts forever. Its our turn to repay Virgle by making sure his grandkids hold their peepaw in their hearts from the memories of him we share. Sadly taken too soon, Virgle will live on through us all.
Virgle is survived by his wife Stacie Lynn Kelnhofer Goodnight; children Summer Nichole Goodnight Beliew (Gavin Beliew), Autumn Marie Goodnight (Scotty Rice), Shelby Lynn Goodnight, Bubba (Virgle Jr) Goodnight, Alysia Raleigh Goodnight (Matthew Westbrook), his two little grandgirls, his side kick Kinzley Marie Rice and his lil squeaky Kylie Rae Rice, his mother Brenda Luker Goodnight, brother Tommy Ray Goodnight, Jr, nephew Collin Ray Goodnight. Virgle was preceded in death by his father Tommy Ray Goodnight Sr, and his Grandparents Ray and Alma Venable Luker and Virgle Horace and Olzy York Goodnight.
