Diamond Birds Lose During Tournament

 The Stuttgart Diamond Birds had a rough three outings while playing in the Robinson Invitational Tournament in Little Rock.

Game 1 Stuttgart 4 DeQueen 19
     DeQueen scored first on a Ricebird error and then scored eleven more runs on four hits in the fifth inning to extend the lead.  Nathan Spoon started the game giving up nine hits eleven runs , striking out three and walking four over four innings.
     Cameron Rodgers and Axton McCrea each drove in two runs. Beau Barnes and Harper Feilke each had one hit.
Game 2 Stuttgart 0 Oklahoma Christian 6
    Oklahoma Christian scored first due to a Ricebird error.  Dagan Duncan, starting pitcher,  went five and two thirds innings striking out eight, walking two, scattering six hits and one earned run.  The Birds sputtered at the plate as Beau Barnes and Braxton Kirkdoffer collected the only 2 hits.
Game 3 Stuttgart 4 Russellville 14
     Russellville defeated Stuttgart 14-4 thanks in part to ten runs scored in the second inning.  Axton McCrea led off on the bump for Stuttgart. The junior starter allowed 4 hits, 10 runs    ( 3 earned)over just one and two thirds innings. McCrea struck out two while walking three.
     Dagan Duncan tripled; Hayden Prine and Beau Barnes doubled. Harper Feilke went two for three at the plate and McCrea and Jay Griffin singled. Duncan, Barnes, and Griffin each drove in runs for the Birds. 
Errors and mental mistakes continue to plaque the team.  The Diamond Birds will get back on track with Conference play beginning this week.
