4-H Rally Day
4-H provides young people with the opportunity to learn skills in everything from Agriculture and Arts to Science, Wildlife, and Veterinary Sciences.
4-H Rally Day competitive events, Baitcasting, BB Shoot/Gun Safety and Bicycle were held March 17 at the Arkansas County Fairgrounds.
The purpose of the Baitcasting & Sportfishing activity is to create an interest in fishing. This is accomplished by testing the participant’s basic knowledge of fish identification and fish anatomy as well as testing the participants’ skill at casting.
The BB Shoot/Gun Safety activity offers 4-H members the opportunity to learn safe gun handling, proper care of guns, and rules of gun safety. The BB gun target shooting contest and a brief examination provides youth the opportunity to demonstrate their skill in target shooting and their knowledge of gun safety.
The Bicycle activity is designed to teach 4-H youth safe bicycle habits and offer an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of bicycles, and to show their skills of riding a bicycle.
Sweepstakes winner in Sr. Bicycle and BB Shoot/Gun Safety was Teegan Henry. Teegan qualified to participate in 4-H Delta District O'Rama on June 11 at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City.
Other participants receiving ribbons in Baitcasting and Bicycle were Wesley Alverenga and William Alverenga.
