Dragons Roar Back to the Top: DeWitt Claims 3A-4 Regional Title, Earns No. 1 State Seed
After more than three decades of waiting, the DeWitt Dragons are back on top.
The Dragons captured the 2026 Class 3A-4 Regional Championship, ending a regional title drought that dated back to 1992, and in the process punched their ticket to the state tournament as the No. 1 seed. DeWitt will open state play against Rivercrest, carrying momentum built over a season defined by grit, balance, and resilience.
The championship run was anything but easy. DeWitt crossed paths with McGehee in both the district and regional championship games, a rivalry that tested the Dragons at every turn. While DeWitt finished as district tournament runner-up, the lessons learned in that loss fueled a focused and determined regional performance, one that ended with the Dragons victory.
Offensively, the Dragons were led by the steady and dynamic trio of Xa Cox, Lay Cox, and Raedric Frye, whose scoring, leadership, and defensive intensity set the tone throughout the season. Inside, Marshaun Bowers provided a strong physical presence, controlling the paint and anchoring the defense when it mattered most. Korri Graham’s defense, Landon Graham’s energy and hustle, and Wiley Whitmore’s rebounding and defense around the goal also delivered timely contributions on both ends of the floor, giving the Dragons versatility and confidence down the stretch.
Now, with a regional crown secured and history already made, the Dragons turn their attention to the state tournament. As a No. 1 seed, DeWitt enters with expectations—but also with belief.
A healthy Arkansas County requires great community news.
