Dragons Lose Homecoming in Heartbreaker
The DeWitt Dragons welcomed the Jacksonville Titans on Friday, September 12. After introducing the Homecoming Court and escorts, the game got underway.
As the Homecoming Court watched, the Dragons just could not stop the Titans.
While they started off pretty good, With 1:35 left in the first quarter, the Dragons Marshaun Bowers scored and they went for two. A penalty caused them to try the two point conversion again, which is no good. 6-0 Dragons.
Dragons kick off to Jacksonville with an on-side kick but Titans recover. Three plays later, Titans score. The PAT is no good. 6-6
Penalties seem to keep the Dragons from moving the ball forward. The Titans get the ball on turnover on downs and march down for a touch down. Off sides on the Dragons causes the Titans to go for two and it is good. 6-14 Titans.
Jacksonville goes for a long pass and the receiver catches it on the 10-yard line. After the play, the Titan player says something that costs him 15 yards. Backed up to the 25 yard line, next play ends on the 8-yard line. The quarterback fakes and takes it in for a touchdown. 6-21 Titans
The Titans intercept the ball with 1:08 left in the half and Titans go in for a touchdown, but there’s a flag on the play. Titans penalty for the pass and the touchdown comes back. Next play there is almost a fumble but Titans fall on it. Halftime 6-21 Dragons trailing.
The second half begins with the Titans receiving the ball. The defense of the Dragons looked like they showed up and put pressure on their quarterback. Titans are 4th and 4 from the 48-yard line of the Dragons. Kaden Golden stops the Titans and the Dragons get the ball on downs. Travis London carries the ball to the 34-yard line :of the Titans and fumbles. Titans recover.
Defense digs in and the Titans punt. A bad snap and the Dragons take over at the 45 yard line of Titans. Dragons push their way down to the red zone. A loss on the play brings 4th and 10. Kaden Piger to Cory Graham for a Dragon touchdown. They try a 2-point conversion and it is no good. 12-21 Titans.
The fourth quarter isn’t much better. With 8:29 left in the game, the Titans scored. 12-28 Titans
The Dragons don’t give up though. With 2:51 left in the game, Dragons keep driving down. Cory Graham takes it for a touchdown. They go for a 2-point conversion and it is good. 20-28 Titans.
Titans have the ball and run the clock out. Final Dragons 20 Titans 28
