Ricebirds Beat CAC Mustangs

The Ricebirds travelled to CAC to play the Mustangs on Friday night. The Birds kicked off to CAC. CAC struggles against the Ricebird defense and Birds take over on downs. Birds take it down to the three yard line and two plays later the Cain Price passes to Caiden Sims for a Ricebird touchdown.

CAC takes over but Cordaro Berry intercepts and gets to the midfield. Ricebirds can’t capitalize and have to turn the ball over on downs.  The first quarter ends with the Birds leading 7-0.

As the second quarter gets going, so does CAC. They score a touch down and then miss the PAT.

Ricebirds move the ball to inside the five and then CAC intercepts a pass from Cain Price. The next play CAC returns for a 98 yard touch down. They go for two and succeed. 7-14 Mustangs.

Ricebirds get the ball back and in three plays move the ball down for a touchdown Price connects for a 55-yard pass with Q.T. Johnson. The PAT is good. The game is tied 14-14.

CAC gets the ball back but on the first play, Keaton Byers intercepts and Birds have the ball back. In the next play a 58 yard pass to Caiden Sims for a touchdown. Two touchdowns in two plays for the Ricebirds. PAT is good. 21-14. Ricebirds.

The Ricebirds Defense was really on fire during this game and stop CAC from getting any first downs. They turn the ball over on downs. Birds take over at CAC’s 41 yard-line. Price gets pressure and runs to the 19 yard line. Jeremiah Thomas breaks tacklers and gets in the end zone. PAT is good 28-14 Ricebirds, with 2:43 left in the first half.

CAC gets the all at their own 30 yard line. Quarterback gets sacked by Knox Hillman. CAC on 3rd and 13, the quarterback keeps and gets a first down. Two plays later Beau Barnes sacks the quarterback for a loss of 11.  CAC has to punt and Keaton Byers returns to the Birds 40-yard line. The Birds run out of time and it is half time.

After the half, the Birds get the ball and march right down the field to the 5-yard line. Tyquan Hall runs it in for a touchdown but a hold brings it back. Two plays later, Hall gets it in for a touchdown with no flags. PAT is good 35-14 Ricebirds.

Ricebird defense played so well during this game, they keep the Mustangs from getting anything going on. Birds take over on downs. QT Johnson catches Price’s pass for a 58 yard gain into the end zone. PAT is good 42-14 Ricebirds.

Once again the Birds defense keeps the Mustangs from getting a first down and they take over in CAC territory. Birds bring it right down the field and Price connects with Bray Covington Minor takes it in for a touchdown. The Mustangs jump offsides but no flag is thrown and the PAT is no good. 48-14 Ricebirds.

Once again the defense holds the Mustangs to no yards. Birds take over on downs, again.  They move the ball down to close to the Red Zone but can’t get the first down. They have to punt, a bad snap but Hayden Prine gets it and punts it back to about the 25 yard line. With 30 seconds left to play the officials call pass interference on the Birds, but there isn’t enough time on the clock for CAC to run another play. Birds win 48-14.

On Thursday night the 7th grade Ricebirds beat the CAC 7th graders 22-0. The Jr. High Birds Beat CAC 28-20
