Bill's Corner of the World
Hi Everyone!! Well, we are into September, before long, it will be Christmas. I know some of you get scared just by the thought of it. Remember you don't have to give those children, the moon and the stars. We never thought our parents would give us the moon and the stars.
Of course, we didn't have those fancy cell phones and didn't even know what they were or heard of them. We did know what an aluminum Christmas tree was and we had one with the colored panel, which snapped it blue, yellow red and green. It was different and very nice to see. We had never seen anything like that and probably never will again.
Some other thing you don't see anymore, maybe if we do they are not as popular as they were in their day. We thought it was from outer space at first, but now we have seen them with a comeback. It was called a "Slinky", a piece of wire that crawled away from your hand and could even walk the stairs. I hope at least there are a few to remember.
One Christmas, all I wanted.was an electric typewriter. I almost wore my mom and dad out and they finally gave in. buying one from Sears and Rowbuck. The first time I unwrapped that gift, I just had a fit, I knew what it was the way it was built under the wrapping. It was expensive back then and all we got was one big present. Dad only made around $200 a week. That was good back then.
The kids these days hardly know what an electric typewriter even looks like in person. I have told them it is just like a keyboard on their computer.
Folks Until Next Time!!!
