How to Forgive When It Feels Impossible

Question from Naomi: Someone deeply hurt me, and I know I need to forgive, but I just can’t seem to let go. How do I move forward?

Answer: Forgiveness is a process, not a one-time event. Here’s how to start:

Acknowledge Your Pain: Don’t suppress your emotions—allow yourself to grieve and process.

  1. Choose to Forgive: Forgiveness isn’t about them; it’s about freeing yourself from resentment.
  2. Pray for Healing: Ask God to help you see the person through His eyes and to heal your heart.
  3. Release and Repeat: If the pain resurfaces, remind yourself of your decision to forgive and keep moving forward.
  4. Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting—it means choosing freedom over bitterness.
