The Pressure to Be Perfect
Question from Amanda: I constantly feel pressure to be perfect—whether at work, at home, or in my spiritual walk. How do I let go of this unrealistic expectation?
Answer: Perfection is an illusion, Amanda, and striving for it will only lead to exhaustion. Instead, aim for excellence, not perfection. Here’s what you can do:
- Redefine Success: Focus on progress over perfection. Celebrate small wins.
- Give Yourself Grace: Even God’s greatest servants had flaws. Remember, His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
- Set Realistic Standards: Ask yourself, “Would I expect this level of perfection from a loved one?” If not, adjust your expectations for yourself.
- Prioritize What Truly Matters: Not everything has to be perfect. Focus on what aligns with your values and faith.
You don’t have to be perfect to be valuable. You are already enough.
