Delma Jean Wheatley

Mrs. Delma Jean Wheatley age 82 passed quietly with her husband holding her hand on May 29, 2024 at her home in Gillett, Arkansas, surrounded by her devoted daughter and granddaughter. She was a dedicated, loving wife to her soulmate, Thomas Wheatley, for 65 years. She was the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful and caring Mother to her children, Lorrie Wheatley of Powder Spgs, GA, Warner & Teresa Wheatley of Canton, GA and John Wheatley of Tullahoma, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Natalie Fuller. She also leaves behind sister, Donna Foltz of Forrest City, AR, and 2 half-sisters Tina Buckley and Sylvia Buckley of McCroy, AR. She was an incredible Mamaw and Nana to seven grandchildren, Tabitha Garner of Bremen, GA, Allen & Travis Wheatley, Amanda & Madison Wheatley of Canton, GA, Robert Wheatley of Gallatin, TN, and Meagan Howell of Shelbyville, TN. She also leaves three great-grandboys that call her “Ma”, Zed, Ben & Kase Garner of Bremen, GA, plus nephews, nieces, and others that were like family to her.

She was retired but was a child caretaker for many years. She loved being around children, giving them sweet hugs and spoiling them. She loved to cook and make her famous Brunswick stew back in the day, and the lucky ones got some sent home with them. There was never a get together without her favorite Pink Stuff. She loved flowers and making wreaths to brighten her home and the homes of others. She always wanted to take care of everyone. She would go out of her way to help you, whether you wanted it or not.
