Susan Moss

November 22, 2023

Susan Moss of Almyra was swept up into the arms of her first love and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 29, 2023. She is now free from the grip of Lewy Body Dementia that had held her captive for the past several years.

Susan was born at DeWitt, Arkansas on December 20, 1947, to Webster and Betty Hillman. She married her second love and high school sweet heart, Ted, on February 13, 1966.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son, Eric Hillman Moss.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years; son Greg and his son Brandon Moss; and daughter and son-in-law Julie and Scott Thomas, and their sons Benjamin, Will Christopher, Jake, and Jonathan Noah; and her brothers David and Walter Hillman.

Susan loved her church and church family at Almyra First Baptist Church. Some of the ways she served over the years are: teaching youth in Discipleship Training and Sunday School, taking kids to Church Camp, going on a mission trip to Washington D.C., preparing drinks and snacks at Vacation Bible School for many years, and was church pianist for 30 years.

She worked as a poll worker for elections at the Almyra Community Center for many years, which she enjoyed greatly.

She loved to travel, especially out west, where in 3 separate trips totaling 66 days, she travelled 20,000 miles. Once, due to an approaching snow storm in the Smokey Mountains, only lacked 300 miles driving across the United States coast to coast twice in 4 months. Did I mention she loved to travel?

Susan’s family would like to thank all who have prayed for us these past several years. Your prayers have been felts and answered. She is finally completely healed.

Also, thanks to our friends, church members, neighbors who sent cards (many times weekly), made personal visits, brought food, had Susan in your homes to visit, and those who gave of your time to stay with her. A special thanks to Phyllis Lovell, who first came as a caregiver but soon became a best friend.

Also, a thanks to the hospice team of aides, nurses, etc., who greatly lightened our load.

Memorials can be mailed to Almyra First Baptist Church, Box 211, Almyra, AR 72003.

Services were November 1 at Almyra First Baptist Church with burial in Almyra Cemetery. www.essexfuneralhome.com
