Mayor Black Speaks About COVID-19

by Charlotte Purdy

With at least one confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus in Arkansas County, it is important to remind citizens of ways to limit the spread of the virus. Mayor Jimmy Black stated on Monday, March 30, 2020, the following:

“We must wash our hands, cover our mouths when we cough and practice social self-containment. This is especially important when shopping at our grocery stores and food outlets.” Black went on to say, “This virus is very easy to catch. If it keeps spreading, I’m sure the Governor will announce more restrictions.”

Black encourages everyone to watch the live coverage daily at 1:30 p.m. to stay up to date with the latest information.

Access to the public buildings has been closed and Black stated, “Most businesses here in town are limiting public access and I appreciate their help. If everyone will do their part to prevent the spread of this virus, the sooner we can get back to normal. Thanks in advance for everyone’s attention to this matter.”
