Primary Election Results Reported for Arkansas County

Primary elections allow voters to indicate their preferences for their party's candidate, or a candidate in general, in upcoming general and local elections. The focus of the Primary Election is to narrow the field of candidates and Arkansas County voters did just that on March 3, 2020.

A total of 2,064 votes were cast for Democratic, Republican, and Nonpartisan races across Arkansas County's 30 precincts.

Results from the Primary Election in Arkansas County were:

DeWitt School Board Zone 7 candidates Kenneth Graves, Tim Bogy and Kevin Endsley were voted on and the final count was close, with a total of 167 votes being cast. Graves received 72 votes, where Bogy received 52 and Endsley received 43.

Justice of the Peace Dist 8 candidates Brandee Weaver and Cody Keaton had only ten votes separating them, but Weaver received the most votes with 57.

Millage for the DeWitt School District No 1 received 599 votes FOR and 436 AGAINST.

A total of 18 candidates were voted on for Democratic U.S. President, with the top four receiving votes being Joseph R. Biden-450, Michael R. Bloomberg-158, Bernie Sanders-125, and Elizabeth Warren-81.

Three candidates for Republican U.S. President were voted on with Donald J. Trump receiving 1,111 votes, Bill Weld with 7 and Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente with 5.

Voting results also reported were for State Supreme Court Assoc Justice Pos 4 with Barbara Womack Webb receiving 1,118 votes and Morgan "Chip" Welch receiving 794; State Senate Dst 25 received 128 votes with Stephanie Flowers receiving 108 and Efrem Elliot receiving 20.

Arkansas County was last reported with a population of 17,967. With only 2,064 total votes cast, the reported numbers could have been swayed either way if more would have turned out at the polls. As with any election year, the total vote counts will increase as the day draws closer to the final elections.
