May 01, 2024

Dr. Laura Lumsden, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, was recently recognized as a Distinguished Preceptor through the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Distinguished Preceptor Recognition Program. The program highlights preceptors who are not full-time employees of a school/college of pharmacy for their commitment to excellence in experiential education and professional practice.

Dr. Lumsden is the daughter of Eddie and Pat Lumsden. She is the co-owner and co-founder of Remedy Drug in Little Rock, AR, which recently celebrated eleven years of excellence in serving the community in which her business resides. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UAMS in 1994.

She has been a PGY1 preceptor, and for 30 years, has incorporated IPPE and APPE experiences into her practice. She teaches with encouragement rather than intimidation while providing an environment that is conducive to learning.

In 2017 she was named Arkansas Pharmacists Association Pharmacist-of-the-Year. Prior to that, she was recognized in 2023 by UAMS as an Outstanding Preceptor in the top 10% of rotation experiences and in 2006 she was named UAMS Preceptor-of-the-Year.

Dr. Lumsden’s business was among the first to provide COVID vaccines to the community and also provides point-of-care test-to-treat services for COVID, flu, and strep.
