John Word Currie

John Word Currie, 82, of DeWitt, passed away March 26, 2024. He was born December 8, 1941, in Crocketts Bluff to Charles Rueben Currie and Dorothy Dean Word Currie.

Johnny was a jack of all trades, but farmed and drove trucks for many years. In his retirement years, Johnny enjoyed washing their cars and keeping them shiny, and keeping the yard around the house in tip top shape. He was a member of DeWitt Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father; one sister Mary Ann Cook; and one grandson Adison Dutton.

Johnny is survived by his wife Sue Ferguson Currie; mother Dorothy Dean Currie; three children Chuck Currie (Connie) of Wynne, Allison Hargrove of DeWitt, and Emilee Dutton (Todd) of Star City; grandchildren Baylee Holbert (Ryan), Josh Dutton (Keithlyn), Adam Hargrove (Kaitlyn), Alden Hargrove, Reid Dutton, Mollie Dutton, Lindsay Marotti (Blake), and Zach Alexander; great-grandchildren Alex, Jack, Ella, Sloan and Baby H; and two sisters Joyce Lepine Jackson (Charles) of DeWitt and Jean Dabbs (Sid) of Little Rock.

Johnny loved his family very much.
